Happy Valentine's Day

I'm not much of a Valentine Day celebrant, but any day for romance is okay with me.  I fixed grilled shrimp and a mixed greens salad along with buttered Italian bread for a romantic dinner.  Larry and I love shrimp.  We used to drive to San Francisco to buy fresh shrimp and sourdough bread on Fisherman's Wharf.  I would prepare shrimp cocktail and we would sit in the floor while we ate and drank whatever white wine we decided on for the day.  Now that we live so far from the bay, I have to rely on frozen shrimp from Costco and bread from the Costco bakery.

Tonight's menu:
1 1/2 pounds medium shrimp
marindade:
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 medium onion diced
1 cloves garlic minced
1/2 cup EVOO

Place shrimp in plastic ziploc bag.  Pour blended marinade over shrimp, seal bag and marinate for 30 - 60 minutes.  Soak wooden skewers in warm water for 30 minutes.  Skewer shrimp and grill over medium heat for 2-3 minutes.  Turn over and continue grilling for 3 minutes.

For salad:

5 cups mixed baby greens
5 canned artichoke hearts drained and coarsely chopped
5 large mushrooms sliced
1/4 sun dried tomatoes

Toss salad in medium bowl

dressing:
1T Soy Sauce
1T Red Wine vinegar
1tsp Stone ground mustard
6T EVOO
1 shallot minced
1/2 tsp sugar

Whisk together dressing ingredients and pour over salad, toss until coated.  Serve with grilled shrimp and warm bread.

I'm not sure if shrimp is considered a romantic food, but Larry and I have always found that it is our romantic food.
